Rule/Canon: Rule 5.3 Responsibilities Regarding Nonlawyer Assistance/Canon 2 - A
paralegal may perform any task which is properly delegated and supervised by an
attorney, as long as the attorney is ultimately responsible to the client, maintains a direct
relationship with the client, and assumes professional responsibility for the work

Violation/Correction: A paralegal is under supervision of the lawyer and must be
reviewed and signed by the lawyer. Completing and sending the requests without the
lawyer reviewing them is a violation. I would correct the situation by reminding the
lawyer he has not yet reviewed them and that still needs to be completed before they can
be sent. I would coordinate doing so and them send them.
