COMPLIANCE TESTING FOR DIAGNOSTIC X-RAY UNIT 3 Introduction The main purpose of the practical was intended to ensure that all the criteria outlined in the Queensland Radiation Safety Standard HR001:2010 are adhered to by the X-ray machine (Shimadzu) from the X-ray laboratory. Different tests were conducted to assure compliance of the X-ray machine with the matching safety standards and criteria. Output reproducibility was included in the test, together with output linearity, Wisconsin timer set, kVp accuracy, light field intensity, half value layer test for beam quality, minimum focus to skin distance, focal spot size for image quality and the collimator test for light field alignment. It is essential to warm up the X-ray machine during the start of any practical when the X-ray machine is off for more than two hours prior to taking a full exposure.
