The Waiting Room The movie The Waiting Room [ CITATION Jas17 \l 1033 ], depicts a day on a weekend in a waiting room of a public hospital. The patients who are seen are members of the under-served ... population, who mostly do not have health insurance, and patients are told to take numbers and wait to be called on to be seen. The audience watches as case by case is followed through the process of being seen by the ER professional staff. One case is that of an older man, a carpenter, who is waiting to be seen for pain in his back. As he waits, we get an inside look at his story. When the triage nurse sees him to take his vital signs and medical information, we find out he was recently in the waiting room for the same issue- bone spurs in his back. One is quick to surmise he is there to get pain medicine. When he gives her his back story about being there recently and not yet receiving the promised call to set up a neurologist appointment the ER technician is very short and quick to point out he shouldn’t expect to receive that call for a while.
