MAT 300 Assignment 1 Bottling Company Case Study

Document Content and Description Below

Customers have been a complaining that our bottles of soda contain less than the advertised sixteen (16) ounces of product. In order to verify the claim that our produce contains less than the adver ... tised sixteen (16) ounces I have instructed employees to pull thirty (30) bottles at random from all the shifts at the bottling plant. I have instructed the employees to measure the amount of soda there is in each bottle. As requested by management we have been asked to investigate our product to determine if the correct amount of product is being dispensed into the bottles. Our findings are as follows: Bottle Number Ounces Bottle Number Ounces Bottle Number Ounces 1 14.23 11 15.77 21 16.23 2 14.32 12 15.80 22 16.25 3 14.98 13 15.82 23 16.31 4 15 14 15.87 24 16.32 5 15.11 15 15.98 25 16.34 6 15.21 16 16 26 16.46 7 15.42 17 16.02 27 16.47 8 15.47 18 16.05 28 16.51 9 15.65 19 16.21 29 16.91 10 15.74 20 16.21 30 16.96 This study source was downloaded by 100000825931745 from CourseHero.com on 05-14-2021 17:49:39 GMT -05:00 https://www.coursehero.com/file/13225345/MAT-300-Assignment-1-Bottling-Company-Case-Study/ This study resource was shared via CourseHero.com Running head: Bottling Company Case Study 3 We will construct a 95 percent Confidence Interval for the ounces in the bottles. We have a sum of 478.62 from the sample of 30 randomly selected bottles and a Mean = 15.954 and a Median = 15.99 with a standard deviation of 0.98298 and a population deviation of 0.96646. There is a 95 percent certainty that the true population mean falls within the range of 15.6 and 16.31. Alternative hypothesis: the bottles of the brand of soda produced contain less than the advertised sixteen (16) ounces of product. Null hypothesis: the bottles of the brand of soda produced do not contain less than the advertised sixteen (16) ounces of product. 95 percent Confidence Interval = (15.6, 16.31) From our findings we are confident that the true population mean is between 15.6 and 16.31 Margin of error = (16.31-15.6) = 0.71/2 = 0.355 Z Test = -0.340 15.94-16 0.96646 = -0.340 √30 Critical Value of 0.05 Level of significance Z0.05 = 1.645, Z-0.05 = -1.645 P-Value = 0.367 P (z ≤ -0.340) From the information gained from this test I conclude that the claim of less soda per bottles is not supported. After examining the information I can conclude that there is a combination of product that have either more than sixteen (16) ounces or less than sixteen (16) ounces, but the numbers demonstrate that overall our advertisement of sixteen (16) ounces is justified. I can only conclude that the customer complaints come from the bottles that do have This study source was downloaded by 100000825931745 from CourseHero.com on 05-14-2021 17:49:39 GMT -05:00 https://www.coursehero.com/file/13225345/MAT-300-Assignment-1-Bottling-Company-Case-Study/ This study re [Show More]
