Introduction The mutual relationship between organizational management and the employees is paramount to the success of the organization. In simple terms, mutual relationship enhances and takes car ... e of needs of each party that is the employee fraternity as well as the management (Daft, 2015). While taking care of every party mutually, such a relationship motivates the parties to the main goals and objectives of the organization. In this regard, mutual relationship is dominated by negotiations and agreement that results into mutual agreement among the parties. In the process, the main aspects of negotiation and conflict theories pop up and if not well managed can lead a company losing its competitive advantage. This paper intends to analyze a case study to bring candidly out the aspects of both negotiation and conflict theory. Positions, interests and BATNAs of each party (the Union and the Management) The Union Two major parties are involved in the existing conflict in Widget factory. The union lead by Mark the chief negotiator exists on one side while the organization management whose prominent individual symbol is the chief executive officer exist on the other. Apparently, the existing contract between the organization and the employee is almost terminating and as such the two parties are preparing themselves to renew the contract with better terms than the previous one.
