with MDD and a history of alcohol abuse. Which drugs are contraindicated, if any, and

Major Depressive Disorder is a complex mental illness characterized by multiple factors
like depressed moods that may not lift for long periods, loss of interest in activities that used to
cause joy and fulfillment (Anhedonia), a continued sense of overwhelming profound sadness and
despair, subtle issues with concentration, some memory, and sometimes making weighty
decisions. These factors are analyzed and used to diagnose a patient with Major Depressive
Disorder if the symptoms are consistent, life-altering, and cause significant disablement in daily
life / prevents a patient from functioning to full capacity for two weeks and beyond.
Major Depressive Disorder can be treated and managed in multiple ways. Selective
Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) are known and tested to help regulate the brain's
neurotransmitters, thereby lifting depressed moods; these medications may take some time to
work, but they are known to be effective, known, and with minimal side effects. Common side
effects with these medications are dry mouth, weight gain after a while, dizziness, headaches,
