Case summary The Enterprise • Founded in 1906 • Estrella de Galicia is one of the main producers of beer in Spain with more than 65 millions of liters of beer produced each year • Inventory management occupies an important place in the business’s affairs The Problem • The enterprise’s procedures were complex • The enterprise needed a multifunctional and mobile computer system to simplify the process Principal Message • The information technologies were used intensively (and are more and more) when it comes down to the management of operations at the heart of enterprises • From now on, these technologies will occupy an important role in the core of different processes in many companies, for example: o The real-time control of the production and quality o The rise of production levels of the enterprise o Transmission of data in real time will help improve the results of the organization Utilized Technologies • CE5000X: all in one computer, robust and mobile (developed by DAP Technologies, the leader in it’s field) Case Summary 1. Estrella de Galicia, one of the main producers of beer in Spain, decided to bring changes to it’s operations management system by integrating technological tools 2. After the addition of the CE5000X systems to improve the logistics, the enterprise raised production levels and their capacity to monitor their merchandise throughout the production, distribution and delivery process 3. After it’s great success of the integration of this technological tool, the enterprise equipped itself with 70 supplementary units Towards Performance Information Systems (SI) and Sources of Profit 1. SI as profit sources: ROI and contribution to value creation 2. Innovative and efficient SI: future needs? Needs just , fair means, involving all 3. SI built over time: cost of development, deployment , maintenance ... 4.
