Pressure Ulcers v2.docx Evidence Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research Task 1 -XAP1 PRESSURE ULCERS Western Governors University Quantitative Article A cost minimization analysis of olive oil vs. hyperoxygenated fatty acid treatment for the prevention of pressure ulcers in primary healthcare: A randomized controlled trial. Introduction The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost difference of using hyperoxygenated fatty acids, rather than olive oil, for the use in preventing pressure ulcers in patients who have impaired mobility and are receiving in home care. (Lupiañez-Pérez et al., 2017)  Review of the Literature The researchers cited 37 different articles to support their study in this article. A couple of the different topics that the researchers discussed were the cost effectiveness of preventing pressure ulcers versus treating them and the factors related to the prevention and management of pressure ulcers. (Lupiañez-Pérez et al., 2017)        Data Analysis The data for this study was analyzed using nonparametric Wilcoxon tests. The data for which was collected weekly for a total of 16 weeks using descriptive statistics with measures of central tendency and the verification of normal distributions. (Lupiañez-Pérez et al., 2017) Discussion of Methodology The method used the researchers used to conduct this study was a noninferiority triple-blind parallel multicenter randomized clinical trial.
