They are heavily involved with many Christian foundations. The restaurant is even closed on Sundays and has been since it™s beginning in 1946.Usually they are not hesitant to display their beliefs in the media on a regular basis speaking out and promoting Christian Love along with good food. However in 2012 their COO Mr. Dan T. Cathy made statements regarding his personal beliefs regarding same-sex marriage that caused a great deal of uproar. The 2012 backlash of Dan Cathy™s 2012 statement actually still affects the restaurant to this day. As a person of high rank within the Chick-Fil-A hierarchy the restaurant was cast in the shadow of it™s COO™s statement. A COO is right along a CEO as the face of a company. Hence, Mr. Cathy™s statements were viewed as the opinion of Chick-fil-A as corporation. The statements drew the medias attentions to the donating and support habits of Chick-Fil-A. It was brought to the public™sattentionthe fact that the restaurant was involved with many Anti-LGBT groups and in fact makes many donations to these types of organizations. This only further cast the massive fast food chain in a poor light. All of this was originated from his statements.
