Sexually Deviant BehaviorAction.docx HUS3120 Sexually Deviant Behavior/Action Rasmussen College HUS3120 Section 02 Human Sexuality Sexually Deviant Behavior/Action After looking at the assignment for this week I did some research on sexually deviant behavior and found great article. This article discusses juveniles and why they have the sexual behaviors they do. It also discusses what may have cause these behaviors and different treatments they have used on youth who exhibit these behaviors and or actions. Mental health professionals often participate in the assessment and treatment of inappropriate sexual behavior in adolescents. The term “juvenile sexual offender†generally refers to a youth who has performed a sexual act upon a victim without consent, against the will of another, or in a violent or threatening manner, but specific legal definitions vary by jurisdiction. The wide range of behaviors considered to be sexually offensive leads to many diverse theories, as well as several effective treatment approaches. (Lowenhaupt, 2009) Most juveniles convicted of sexual offenses are male adolescents and tend to have a history of additional delinquent behaviors besides the sexual ones. There is some literature considering female and younger sexual offenders, but both are less common than the adolescent male behaviors. Sexual offenders may be categorized by several different organizational schemes based on the specific behaviors and underlying issues of this diverse group of individuals.
